In this months edition we're putting a spotlight on some of the many and varied activities that take place here in Thirsk and the surrounding villages. Of note this month is the Thirsk & Sowerby Festival.

As we move into October and a month in the calendar in which we share stories, readings and gatherings that look to celebrate Halloween, we are reminded of the Busby Stoop Chair - a chair with a sinister reputation that was owned by coiner, drunkard and convicted murderer Thomas Busby.

In this month's newsletter, we are reminded of the numerous initiatives in Thirsk and the surrounding villages that aim to foster a strong sense of 'community.' But what do we mean by 'community'? It's a unique opportunity for the local population to connect and share 'a sense of place' through various conversations. Thirsk has a lot to be proud of and discuss.
